What is API?

An API, or Application Programming Interface, is a certain technology automatic instructional tool that web programmers use to develop certain commands, tools, or functions. An API allows for the web programmer to develop these software automatically, so they do not have to manually insert a code for them to be developed. For example, a scrollbar inserted into a website would have to be manually inserted with code by the developer if they were not to use an API. Many APIs are accessed by web developers in order to more efficiently create a websites overall function for the external systems of which will be using or visiting the website.
