By definition, the click-through is the process of taking a user from an affiliated website to the merchants page. This is ignited each time the visitor clicks on the advertisement or affiliate link placed on the website of the affiliate partner. In some cases, the click-through is used as the basis of affiliate payment structure. But, even if some other measurement is used for that purpose, click-through is still important as a way of measuring the success of an ad campaign. In order to count the click-throughs correctly, the affiliate network needs to use proper software, which would get rid of the fake and duplicate clicks.
