CPL or Cost per Lead is one of the most common pricing methods in online advertising. How it works is that the advertiser pays for every customer sign-up which came directly as a result of affiliate partners efforts. Because of this, CPL is referred to, by some marketers, as online lead generation. Compared to other online advertising pricing models, like CPC (Cost per Click), CPL enables the advertisers to pay only when returns on their invested ad money are guaranteed. Rather than using clicks or views as the measurement of the success of an advertising campaign, this model focuses on actual profits.
