The links on a web page that take the users away from it are called outbound links. They can lead to literally anywhere on the internet. But, not all outbound links are the same in the eyes of the search engines. Dofollow links are those that pass SEO juice to the targeted page. Nofollow links do not! Having outbound links on a page is good if they are there to help the users learn more about a specific subject. However, the outbound links can take the users away from your site. Furthermore, if there are too many of them, the users might feel uncomfortable reading the article. That is why a general consensus among marketers is to stick to a smaller number of outbound links and focus mostly on internal linking.
