Revenue refers to the actual total amount of sales made before subtracting the expenses. The advertiser will calculate his revenue based on the sales achieved through various channels. Affiliate revenue on the other hand is the amount of commissions that affiliates earn through different marketing campaigns before the expenses are subtracted. Highly profitable affiliate programs generate revenue for both advertisers and affiliates. Revenue doesnt determine the profitability of an affiliate marketing program. When the expenses for running a campaign is much higher, the revenue doesnt turn into profits.
